What does a Funding Adviser do?

The Research Funding Advisor works with and advises project teams on the development of research projects and program strategy. He or she provides assistance and drafts strong concept notes and proposals for funders. He proofreads, comments on, corrects, and validates concept notes and proposals to ensure they include strong technical added value, meet research criteria, present a sound strategic vision, are budget-congruent, and adhere to donor guidelines. He or she creates concept notes and contributes to the creation of regional research projects.

If necessary, the Research Funding Advisor provides information and advises the desk team on funder regulations and contractual requirements. He/she provides to the Operational Funding Desk Advisors all elements required to ensure that research activities and funder engagements are aligned, or to be able to propose contractual changes to funders if operational or research plans change.

Depending on the contract and team composition, the Research Funding Advisor assists or produces narrative reports for funders. Under the supervision of the CORAL, the Grant Managers or the Research Funding Advisor are responsible for the writing and elaboration of narrative reporting for research activities, in accordance with contractual requirements and with strong monitoring and analysis. They collaborate with the operational team to create precise, detailed, and clear reports that adhere to funder requirements and formats while meeting deadlines.
